TODAY, 5PM EST: UAW President Shawn Fain Holding Facebook Live to Discuss Status of Big Three Talks at All Three Tables

DETROIT – UAW President Shawn Fain will meet with members on Facebook Live TODAY at 5:00 p.m. EST to discuss the status of negotiations with the Big Three automakers.

The media is invited to view the livestream at the UAW’s Facebook page. It can also be viewed at the UAW’s YouTube Channel. (Media capturing the livestream have had more success with YouTube.)

Fain will discuss disappointing counterproposals made by Ford, General Motors and Stellantis. The UAW gave the Big Three its core economic demands, the Members’ Demands, in mid-July. All three companies took more than a month to respond with their economic counterproposals.

The UAW president’s livestream comes one week after the release of a Gallup poll showing 75 percent of Americans side with the union’s 150,000 members in their negotiations with the Big Three.

Collectively, Ford, General Motors and Stellantis made $250 billion in North American profits from 2013 to 2022. In just the first six months of 2023, they raked in $21 billion in total profits.

The UAW recently raised strike pay to $500 per week per member and has over $825 million in the union strike fund. There are six days left until the union’s contracts with the Big Three expire on Sept. 14.
