TODAY, 6PM: UAW President Shawn Fain Holding Facebook Live on Status of Big Three Talks; Fain’s Update Comes just after Gallup Poll Finds 75% of Americans Back UAW over Automakers

The media is invited to view the livestream at the UAW’s Facebook page. It can also be viewed at the UAW’s YouTube Channel. (Media capturing the livestream have had more success with YouTube.)

Fain will update members and the public about the disappointing lack of progress made by the Big Three at the bargaining table, including the recent economic counterproposal from the Ford Motor Company.

The UAW president’s livestream comes one day after the release of a Gallup poll showing 75% of Americans side with the union’s 150,000 members in their negotiations with the Big Three.

Collectively, Ford, General Motors and Stellantis made $250 billion in North American profits from 2013 to 2022. In just the first six months of 2023, they raked in $21 billion in total profits.

The UAW recently raised strike pay to $500 per week per member and has over $825 million in the union strike fund. Last week, UAW members voted by 97% to authorize a strike in preparation for the September 14th deadline for contract negotiations with the Big Three.
